This restaurant is magnifico as they say in Italian. A quick 45 minute drive to the little town of Almonte and right on the water. My girlfriend and I thought just for the water alone it was well worth it.
The food is what we are here to talk about though. We ordered a Bruschetta to start and we were blown away with how fresh the tomatoes were and just how good this bread was. I know you might be saying well it is bread how amazing can it be, the answer is it probably the best bread you will ever eat. The freshness did not stop with the tomatoes though no no. My girlfriend ordered a white sangria, and I tell you she said it was just pure alcohol and fresh fruit as mix, just know that it is very strong, she couldn't even finish it because it was so strong. On the plus side the waitress, Kayla, was so kind she refunded the drink. Then we got to the main course, which was an Aloha Joe Pizza, and yes there is pineapple on that, but my oh my again back to the theme of this restaurant, these were real pineapples not that fake stuff you get at your run of the mill pizza joint. Absolutely fantastic! Finally the waitress was amazing and knows her draw, like I said she had refunded the drink that the girlfriend just couldn't touch. Then right in the middle of her dinner rush she offered to take a picture of us and was able to get the water in the back drop. Which was the perfect way to end our evening! Fella's if you ever want to really impress a woman on a first date this is the place to go. A beautiful car ride, great food, and a cute little ice cream shop right outside the restaurant, just make sure you sit on the patio at Joe's Italian Kitchen and enjoy the view! Today we examine quite a fun activity just outside of Ottawa in the great land of Calabogie Ontario. If you are a nature lover or if you are just looking to go for low key walk through a beautiful trail, the Eagles Nest Point is the place for you. About a 3 KM hike up the road is one of the valley’s most beautiful veiws looking down on a combination of lake, mountain, and forest. The words here don’t do it justice, you will have to see it for yourself. A fairly busy location it is a place for family fun, dates or just to walk your dog (leashed of course) although there didn’t seem to be anyone that would enforce that. Not only is the walk well worth it, but the drive up the Madawaska river is a trip all on its own. You are going to want to make sure you bring food and a camera though for when you get to the peak of the trail. Food because trust me you are going to be hungry, and a camera since well it is just a nice spot for nature shots, family photos, or selfies. I went there in the afternoon with my girlfriend and my buddy and we had a blast. Here are a few pictures that we took and I am sorry for the poor quality but I am the biggest scardie cat in the world when it comes to heights. |
